A section with coins and medals regarding cats was a must and the Museum owns the first stamp in the world with a cat on it: the 1930 Spanish Airmail stamp commemorative of Carl Lindberg’s flight across the Atlantic.
The 1 peseta stamp represented the aviator on the point of leaving with the “Spirit of Saint Louis” plane and, sadly sitting on a corner, his black pussy Patsy watching him go.
Since then, almost all countries have stamped images of cats on the stamps and some are real works of art.
Our aim is to be able to have a complete collection.
